Saturday May 29th Garage Sale

Just another reminder for our annual "John doesn't love me anymore" Giant Garage Sale on Saturday, May 29th between 9am-2pm. Anything being sold outside will be cash sales only so no debit or credit, of course anything you find in the store you can still purchase through all the regular means.

Just a Few Randoms

Hello again everyone just a few random things today which I think are unique or interesting. The first is this collection of old fishing net floats. Made out of wood they are the things that would keep the fishing nets on trollers from sinking. Just a weird little collection of things we have that could be great for some decorating of a den or an art project.

Next these amazing floor grates they are old in great condition and all still have their plates for regulating air flow. These babies are unique and they move fast.

Last but not least this old butchers block, filled with style from use it's got great knife marks all over and is just a really unique amazing piece.

A lot of stuff has come and gone in the past week so come down and check us out if you haven't been in awhile.

Some Lovely Old Containers and Some Funky Lights

Hi there guys Jon here again. So yesterday I put up some pieces that I really enjoyed that I found wandering around on my first day here. Today are some of the lovely old containers things that would be good as decorative pieces in your kitchen, living room, planters outside anything you want to do with them

First up are these containers they can bring and old worldly sense to your kitchen or make great outdoor planters.

Next up is this wonderful old steamer chest, we have a fair few of these kicking around in all different kinds of wonderful styles and sizes and colours even amazing little ones for kids. This one below though is probably my favourite. The colour combination and size are nice. It could be used as a chest or even as an interesting tabel.

I'll end it again with a few lighting fixtures I enjoy.

Come back tomorrow and see what I've found and also don't forget about our "John doesn't love me anymore" Giant Garage Sale on Saturday, May 29th between 9am-2pm. Hope to see you there or in the store.
Jon

New Member of the Family

Hello there everybody my name is Jon and I've just started here at The Old House Revival. Besides a love of antiques I have a passion for photography and a certain experience with the Internet so I hope to bring some new life to the blog. For right now I've taken a little tour around the store and captured just a few interesting pieces to showcase in this post.

One of the first pieces that catches the eye as you walk in is this stunning old buffet made of Oak.

Besides the fine wood work of the past I also love unique and quirky lighting setups. From lamps to fixtures we have tons of lighting options but a few of my favourites are this amazing coffee pot lamp and this collection of industrial style lighting. Whether you want them as a conversation starter for your living room or to add style to an old workshop any of these would be great. We also have a ton of old oil lamps which are great decorative pieces and one of my favourite styles of light with their soft dancing glimmer.

Now of course one of the reasons people love what we have now dubbed antiques is because of the higher level of craftsmanship and artistry that was put into them. You can feel the love in every piece. Instead of being that uniform design pumped out one after the other on an assembly line you could see the unique little imperfections, tool marks or brush strokes. Some of my favourite items that fit into this category are door handles, locks and keys. They are something that we have massed produced and have sort of lost their unique appeal. Keys in particular used to be ornate pieces with amazing styling where as now they have become so uniform an indistinguishable from one another. Below is just a few grand shots of the selection of door knobs you can find if you come on down and visit us.

Well I have taken a load more pictures but I will save some for another update. For now I will say goodbye and ask you to keep us in mind when working on your projects this summer, whether they be redecorating, remodeling or an off the wall art project that you need some unique looking pieces for I'm sure we can help you find what you need. So come on down and visit us.
