March 2010
Spring is in the air!

March is a wonderful "ME" month! With no major holidays or events, it is the perfect time to focus on your needs in your space....take stock to ensure things are working for your lifestyle.

For example, a dining room that gets limited use can be easily transformed into a library with the addition of task lighting, accessories and books!

Touches of green make it bearable to wait another month or two for the leaves to come out and the grass to start growing!

Our fabulous selection of stained and leaded glass windows provide more than rainbows in your room; they are instant privacy screens while still allowing in the sunlight, they are works of art, and they lend old-world style to your space, new or old.

Bump up the glamour factor in your private spaces with this amazingly detailed chandelier. Pink and gold hand-painted details are highlighted by a multitude of crystals...imagine this hanging above your bed or bathtub!

If you like art glass, you will love our store! We have a good selection of colours and styles in store to meet your collecting needs.

Our vast selection of furniture spans the past 100+ years of style and design. We carry many retro pieces that bring the energy and attitude of the 1960s (and beyond) into your space.

Throughout our 4 floors you will find sweet little gifts and memories of simpler times tucked into cabinets and corners, waiting to be discovered by you!

Repurposing furniture is a great way to make environmentally friendly choices. Think beyond the original intended purpose of a piece and see if you can devise new ways to incorporate it into your home. Bureaus become bathroom consoles, Hoosier cabinets are great coffee stations, and old doors become headboards with a little creativity!

Vintage items like chrome tables, painted wood furniture and retro kitchenware put everyone in the mood for the upcoming cottage season! No Cottage? Dress up your RV with barkcloth curtains and enamel ware plates, or pick up a plaid thermos to take out on camping trips.

Sweet little washstands easily transform into extra storage in the bath, a valet/dressing station in the bedroom, or become a bedside table in a pinch.

Card table sets still have a place in today's homes- great for poker nights or the kids' table at family functions, these fold-flat sets take up minimal room when stored. They are also light enough to move outdoors for brunch under the new leaves, or a romantic dinner date on the screened porch.

Located in a charming 100 year old warehouse, we are 4 levels of antiques, architectural salvage and vintage items. By time you make it to the top level, you may be ready for a rest. Enjoy our cozy reading nook complete with a large pew for relaxing and hundreds of great titles for browsing.

From butter to mustard shades, the colour yellow brings cheer to Canadians throughout our long winters as we pine for the sun. Pair yellow accessories with the perfect spring-time blue to create a fresh seasonal look in your home.

Get your rolling pins ready, this summer's berry crops will become your delicious homemade pies in another few months! Did you know that Butter Tarts were invented in Canada as a response to not having any fruit for pastries during our cold, long winter months? Show your pride by whipping up a batch- you will be both patriotic and very popular!

Truly a shopping destination in Winnipeg, we were very flattered to host a 55th birthday party in our store! All regular customers, the birthday girl and her friends met at The Old House Revival Company and Antique Mall for a fun shop before heading out for a birthday luncheon. Thank you for sharing this special occasion with us and Happy Birthday!

Our selection showcases a multitude of styles, eras and lifestyles- a vintage green folding chair becomes a perfect lakeside perch, while a chrome lamp is a statement piece for a new space seeking mid-century sensibilities.

Calling all collectors! Around The Old House, we have a saying; Two is a pair, three is a collection! What do you collect? If it is old, we likely have a piece or two in stock for you. Our store is beautifully arranged to make the search both fascinating and enjoyable.

An ode to the Irish, green accessories make the most of the St. Patrick's Day celebrations this March 17th.

Bring old-fashioned charm home with you with the addition of a brass bed, hand-crafted storage piece, or comfortable occasional chair. All come standard with attention to detail and craftsmanship of yesteryear.

Please visit our plumbing room, loaded with statement pieces and accessories that recall a time when plumbing was an elite acquisition!
